SEA-EU participates in the European Universities Coordinators Working Retreat in Brussels

SEA-EU participated in the European Universities Coordinators Working Retreat, held in Brussels on 14 April 2026.

The event brought together alliances from across Europe to exchange perspectives and contribute to the future development of the European Universities Initiative. It provided a valuable platform for discussion on the long-term evolution, impact, governance, and sustainability of European university alliances. The retreat also highlighted the importance of collaborative governance and dialogue in shaping the next phase of higher education cooperation in Europe, particularly at a time when alliances are expanding their academic offer, strengthening institutional integration, and preparing for future European frameworks.

Special recognition was given to FOREU4ALL for its active role in the co-creation of the retreat, helping to ensure that the experiences, priorities, and perspectives of alliances were reflected throughout the programme. Its continued work plays an important role in strengthening cooperation across the European Universities community.

SEA-EU was represented by Fernando Pérez, who also serves as Vice-Chair of FOREU4ALL, together with Patricia Pinto from the University of Algarve and Delphine Dall from the University of Brest. As one of the alliances actively contributing to the transformation of higher education in Europe, SEA-EU continues to advance key initiatives such as joint programmes, innovative mobility opportunities, and deeper cooperation between its nine partner universities. Through project proposals such as SEA-EU NEXT, the alliance is also preparing the next stage of its long-term development.

SEA-EU’s participation in the retreat reflects its ongoing commitment to contributing to a more integrated, innovative, and inclusive European Higher Education Area.
