The SEA-EU Staff Week “Intercultural Competences for Technical and Administrative Staff Involved in the Joint Bachelor SeaBluE” has just come to a close. Hosted by the University of Naples Parthenope from 12 to 14 May 2026, in collaboration with the University of Cádiz (Spain) and the University of Gdańsk (Poland), the initiative was coordinated and supported by the University’s SEA-EU Office, led by Dr Giovanna Apice, SEA-EU Local Manager.

Intercultural Competences for Technical and Administrative Staff
The initiative brought together technical and administrative staff from the partner universities involved in the first academic year of the international Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBluE), providing an important opportunity for training, exchange and shared professional development.

Its main aim was to strengthen participants’ intercultural competences and promote an increasingly effective and coordinated management of administrative processes, with particular attention to welcoming, supporting and providing services for international students.

Workshops on Team Building, LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® and Communication
During the training sessions, participants took part in an engaging workshop based on the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology, an innovative and creative tool designed to foster dialogue, collaboration and shared planning. Through hands-on activities and guided reflection, the workshop made it possible to explore new ways of working in teams, highlighting the contribution of each participant and encouraging the development of common solutions. The activities were led by facilitators Professor Luigi Moschera and Professor Aizhan Thursunbayeva.

The training programme continued with a session led by Professor Chiara Cannavale, focusing on intercultural communication and relational skills in multicultural contexts. The session provided participants with useful tools and reflections to improve interaction with international students and colleagues, promoting listening skills, awareness of cultural differences and the adoption of inclusive communication approaches. Among the key moments of the Staff Week was also the engaging team-building workshop coordinated by Professors Kawka and Borowska-Pietrzak from the University of Gdańsk, dedicated to collaboration and the development of effective dynamics within international working groups.

Strengthening Cooperation Across the SEA-EU Alliance
The Staff Week concluded with speeches by SEA-EU General Coordinator Fernando Perez Peña from the University of Cádiz and Professor Gabriele Sampagnaro, Rector’s Delegate for SEA-EU, who highlighted the strategic value of joint training opportunities such as this one. Both stressed that sharing experiences, tools and good practices is essential to strengthening cooperation among the Alliance’s universities and supporting the development of increasingly integrated international educational pathways.
