A dedicated webpage for the SEA-EU Inner Development Goals (IDG) Network is now available on the SEA-EU website, providing a central space for resources, initiatives, events and opportunities related to the Inner Development Goals across the alliance.
The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) are a framework of skills, qualities and mindsets designed to help individuals and organisations contribute more effectively to sustainable development. Complementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the framework focuses on the inner capacities needed to navigate complexity, foster collaboration and drive meaningful change.
Available under the GROW section of the SEA-EU website, the new page brings together information about the network, its activities and ongoing developments, while supporting collaboration among staff, academics and students interested in fostering these capacities across the alliance.
From Bodø to a Growing Community

The foundations of the SEA-EU IDG Network were laid during the SEA-EU IDG Hub Staff Week hosted by Nord University in Bodø, Norway, in October 2025. Bringing together academic and administrative staff from across the alliance, the event provided a space to explore the Inner Development Goals framework and its potential to support sustainable transformation in higher education.
Through workshops, dialogue and collaborative reflection, participants examined how the IDGs can strengthen education, research, leadership and community engagement. The experience sparked new connections, shared learning and a common vision that has since evolved into a growing SEA-EU community of practice.
Today, the network connects colleagues across the alliance who are working to embed the IDGs into courses, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), workshops, research projects, sustainability initiatives and other collaborative activities. Recent achievements include the integration of IDG principles into educational programmes, workshops, research collaborations and the SEA-EU Charter for a Sustainable Future, signed by the Rectors of the alliance in June 2026.
The network is coordinated by Tove Holm (Local Manager for SEA-EU at Nord University) and continues to grow as a space for learning, collaboration and exchange across SEA-EU.
