SEA-EU Observatories Staff Week – University of Gdańsk
The joint Staff Week brings together members of OSBE and the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights (OMHR).
The joint Staff Week brings together members of the Observatory for Sustainable Blue Economy (OSBE) and the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights (OMHR) will take place at University of Gdańsk 15–17th of September 2026 in order to summarise the activities carried out within SEA-EU 2.0, exchange experiences and discuss future directions for interdisciplinary cooperation.

The University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies has been selected to host the 26th IAMU Annual General Assembly and Conference.
The University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies has been selected to host the 26th Annual General Assembly and Conference of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), which will take place in Split, Croatia, from 7–10 October 2026.
Held under the theme “Human Centered Digital Ocean: Educating Safe & Green Global Maritime Professionals,” the event will bring together maritime educators, researchers, industry leaders, and representatives of international organizations from around the world. As a global network of leading maritime universities and an important partner of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), IAMU plays a key role in advancing maritime education, training, innovation, and research.

OSBE at Being Sea-EU Conference 2025
OSBE's framework and activities were presented at the SEA-EU Conference in Cádiz, highlighting how OSBE fosters sustainable innovation and supports responsible use of blue resources across SEA-EU countries.
On 23 October 2025, OSBE framework and activities have been presented by Slađana Pavlinović Mršić at the SEA EU Conference in Cadiz. It was pointed out that OSBE fosters sustainable innovation and develops jobs supporting responsible use of blue resources across SEA-EU countries while OSBE mission is provision of data, research, and guidance to support policy and strategy development for a sustainable blue economy.

OSBE Staff Week 2024 at the University of Malta
The OSBE group organised a members' meeting at the University of Malta as part of the Staff Week on the Blue Economy, working to develop a common framework for longitudinal research on the blue economy within SEA-EU.
The OSBE group, in a collaborative effort, organized a two-day members' meeting at the University of Malta from June 10 to 12, 2024, as part of The Staff Week on the Blue Economy. The group's collective aim was to develop a common framework for longitudinal research/observation on the blue economy within the SEA-EU.
The first-day OSBE meeting focused on defining research approaches and identifying shared areas for collaboration among researchers in the blue economy. Participants presented their current work and discussed human resource management as an existing OSBE research focus and agreed on two key priorities: establishing common research areas and identifying topics suitable for joint projects and publications.
The group also examined members' roles within OSBE, explored stakeholder engagement and networking opportunities, and reviewed the OSBE webpage with suggestions for improvement. The session concluded with plans for future goals and activities of the OSBE team.

SEA-EU Staff Week on Sustainable Human Resource Management for the Sustainable Blue Economy
Experts on Human Resource Management and Blue Economy from across the SEA-EU Alliance gathered at the University of Split to discuss sustainability in job market development and the Blue Economy.
The SEA-EU Staff Week on Sustainable Human Resource Management for the Sustainable Blue Economy took place this week (November 14th – 17th) at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, University of Split. This Staff Week gathered experts on Human Resource Management, but also Blue Economy from all over the SEA-EU Alliance, allowing them to discuss sustainability in the context of the development of the job market but also in the context of the development of the Blue Economy. The experts also tried to give an answer to the question of how higher education institutions can contribute to the development of sustainable human resource management.
Every meeting day consisted of a workshop session and a project fair session, where the participants presented their ideas on future projects and research, marking a first step towards new collaborations. As focal points of cooperation were agreed:
This Staff Week also served as an opportunity to discuss the future development of the SEA-EU Observatory for Sustainable Blue Economy, as the second day’s session gathered the OSBE experts from the University of Split as well as the experts from the University of Gdansk and the NORD University. Staff Week concluded with an interesting visit to the ancient city of Salona where the participants got to know the natural and historical beauties of this cradle of ancient Roman and ancient Croatian history.
