The University of Gdańsk will host the SEA-EU Observatories Staff Week from 15 to 17 September 2026, an event taking place within the framework of the international Being SEA-EU Conference. The Staff Week will bring together members of the Observatory of Sustainable Blue Economy and the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights.
The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between the two observatories by fostering the exchange of experiences, reviewing the achievements accomplished throughout the SEA-EU 2.0 project, and identifying new opportunities for cooperation in strategic research areas across the Alliance.
Over the course of the three-day programme, participants will engage in a collaborative agenda combining strategic reflection, the exchange of best practices, and discussions on future challenges. Particular attention will be given to stakeholder engagement, the dissemination of research outcomes, the development of joint publications, and the planning of new interdisciplinary research initiatives.
The Staff Week will run alongside the Being SEA-EU Conference, providing participants with the opportunity to attend and contribute to conference sessions focusing on topics such as the blue economy, migration, human rights, sustainability, coastal development, and European cooperation. This shared setting will promote knowledge exchange among researchers and professional staff from across the SEA-EU Alliance while creating new opportunities for international networking and collaboration.
The programme will also provide a platform to reflect on the main achievements of both observatories since their establishment, share experiences gained through SEA-EU collaborative activities, and discuss future priorities, including new research initiatives, mobility opportunities, knowledge transfer activities, and participation in international projects.
The Staff Week is open to members of the Observatory of Sustainable Blue Economy and the Observatory of Migration and Human Rights from SEA-EU partner universities.
Through this initiative, the SEA-EU Alliance continues to promote collaborative working environments that strengthen the international dimension of its partner universities while reinforcing the role of its observatories as platforms for research, innovation, and the joint development of solutions to the social and environmental challenges facing Europe’s coastal regions.
